Everest and beyond...

Namaste all. Well, with just a week and a half to go I am still undecided about what to pack for the trek. Granted, cameras, sleeping bag, heavy jacket, running shoes and boots go without saying. It's just the rest that has yet to be determined. Either way, departure day, date is not far now!

Of course, one of the challenging aspects of a trip like this is the looooong travel time to get there. God I don't even want to think of the return part. But such is nature of world travel.

Why Nepal? I guess I've always had a passion for all things mountainous (is that even a word?) since living in So. Cal then moving to Colorado. However, I think like most people there is an "awe" about seeing and or being able to view something as iconic as "the tallest mountain on earth" that has led me down this path. That, and of course the Nepali culture as as well. Though having grown up and traveled in third world countries it wont be such a shock as seeing cows meandering the streets as well as monkeys doing their thing, as well as Pashupatinath temple where daily cremations take place.

So, as with most of my travels I've tried to incorporate both passion and culture in them ever since I can remember, and truly believe that Nepal will not let me down. I can't say if this trip will change me physically (Great altitude training!) and or spiritually. Probably not knowing my self but hope in some way or form to perhaps shed some old beliefs and thoughts about myself. Doubt it, but...stay tuned.

Namaste.

Wow, September (last year that is) is a long way off from my last post. And while I make no excuses, well, I'm sure I can come up with a few, but then again we've all heard them before. Don't really know where to pick up after such a long time. So I wont. Instead, I'll focus on the future as best possible.

With less than three weeks to go it'll be off to Nepal, Kathmandu and Everest Base Camp/EBC. This for those who know me know it's been a trip, trek, in the making for at least 20 years now. Oh, yeah, every year would come around when I'd start making plans on where next and inevitably Nepal would always surface but who had three week vacation - at least here in the States along with are usually airfares that would rival what my house is worth? However, it was way overdue no matter.

So it is with only a handful of day's left that I'll embark on my trip to end all trips, treks and look forward not only to the trek itself but also the Nepali culture and cuisine as well. And with enough memory to bring back a few thousand pictures as well.

Namaste.
