Everest and beyond...

Namaste all. Well, with just a week and a half to go I am still undecided about what to pack for the trek. Granted, cameras, sleeping bag, heavy jacket, running shoes and boots go without saying. It's just the rest that has yet to be determined. Either way, departure day, date is not far now!

Of course, one of the challenging aspects of a trip like this is the looooong travel time to get there. God I don't even want to think of the return part. But such is nature of world travel.

Why Nepal? I guess I've always had a passion for all things mountainous (is that even a word?) since living in So. Cal then moving to Colorado. However, I think like most people there is an "awe" about seeing and or being able to view something as iconic as "the tallest mountain on earth" that has led me down this path. That, and of course the Nepali culture as as well. Though having grown up and traveled in third world countries it wont be such a shock as seeing cows meandering the streets as well as monkeys doing their thing, as well as Pashupatinath temple where daily cremations take place.

So, as with most of my travels I've tried to incorporate both passion and culture in them ever since I can remember, and truly believe that Nepal will not let me down. I can't say if this trip will change me physically (Great altitude training!) and or spiritually. Probably not knowing my self but hope in some way or form to perhaps shed some old beliefs and thoughts about myself. Doubt it, but...stay tuned.

Namaste.
